What to Expect at LightFair 2021

Lighting design inspiration, lighting innovations, friends, colleagues and above all...the passion and dedication of Illuminators who continued to design, create, innovate and collaborate through every challenge presented in these past couple of years. This LightFair is a testament to the ingenuity and determination of the lighting design and technology community. It's where the future of lighting will get shaped. We look forward to seeing you there.

We are just days away from the 32nd LightFair scheduled to take place Oct 25-29, 2021 at the Javits Center, New York. Since the 2020 event was first postponed, and later canceled, this upcoming LightFair has been poised to be the most anticipated architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference in 2.5 years. It is now almost time to open the doors and welcome the attendees, and we are ready.

All of us on the LightFair team have been working diligently and tirelessly to deliver a safe, productive and memorable experience that combines product discovery, networking and accredited education with safety protocols that meet the latest state, city and facility mandates. Our goal has always been and will continue to be to connect our exhibitors with the prospects who find value in their solutions and our attendees with the products, inspiration and education they need to succeed as professionals, leaders, innovators and as builders of the future of lighting.

LightFair at the End of the Tunnel

It should come as no surprise that some things about LightFair will be different this year. Ongoing travel restrictions may keep some of our international friends from attending and some of our international exhibitors from participating. Vaccine proof and mask mandates stipulated by the city, state and facility are not received the same way by everyone.

We acknowledge the challenges, and we are determined to do the best we can to provide the maximum value to all our participants and stakeholders.

Since this crisis began, the LightFair team has been committed to staying nimble, adapting and adjusting to the evolving circumstances. We have deliberated over key decisions to make sure we keep the best interests of the industry in mind and are listening to the voice of our audience. Our partners and co-owners, the Illuminating Engineering Society and the International Association of Lighting Designers have provided the perspective and thought-leadership we rely on to make important and informed decisions. Our parent company, the International Market Centers, a global leader in markets and trade shows, provides us with a rock-solid foundation of insights and strategies we would not otherwise have easy access to. As a trade show co-owned by three partners, LightFair is uniquely positioned in many ways.

There Is No Substitute for In-Person Reconnection

Regardless of the complexities of the times, the spirit of LightFair remains intact, and the need for LightFair is stronger than ever: discovery, networking, education. You will find it in the exhibit hall as you walk the show floor, explore pavilions, join curated tours and connect with manufacturers bringing new products to market. You will see it come to life in the products that win the coveted honor aka the LightFair Innovation Awards, to be announced on October 26. You will experience it in the conference sessions where speakers will help you navigate some of the most relevant topics of the day as well as help you delve deep into the timeless fundamentals of lighting design and technology. You will hear it in the design talks from presenters like David Ghatan, Deborah Burnett and others whose sessions will leave you inspired. You will no doubt see it in the eyes and hear it in the voices of friends and colleagues who are glad to reconnect in person.

We are grateful for the support of all the exhibitors, attendees, speakers and vendors who have helped make LightFair 2021 possible.
